The forklift is an important piece of machine in most businesses that operate warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial plants. This great equipment, the forklift is made of numerous components, like the essential carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks usually have a range of attachments as well. The following are several of the most essential forklift parts.
Forklift Engine - the forklift truck is made with a power source at the back of the equipment. Different kinds of forklift truck have different types of engine which need varying power sources. Like for example, a forklift with an IC engine can have as its power source any of the following: CNG gas, LP gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Truck Frame - The frame of the truck is the base of the lift truck and the most important of all the forklift parts. This forms the core of the equipment. All other lift truck parts are attached to the base, like the overhead guard, counterweight, mast, wheels and axles. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks could also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Components - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the machine to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and may work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the machine. Several forklifts have a cab area that is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are many components located in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important components like for example the operator controls, steering wheel, pedals, seats, levers and switches. The dashboard has operator readouts.
