Forklifts are vehicles usually found in factories, warehouses and other work sites where it is necessary to move heavy materials from one location to another. The mast is the mechanism situated on the front of the forklift which hydraulically raises and lowers the load. The "cat" is the area which is protected where the forklift driver sits.
Forklifts are capable of carrying loads between one and five tons in weight. Several kinds can be used to raise shipping containers and loads that are a lot heavier.
Forklift tires should be maintained and checked regularly. The types of tires on various forklifts vary according to factors such as load weights, ground surfaces and frequency of use. Each and every operator of a forklift must have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
You should regularly check the tires. Watch for signs of damage and wear to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40 percent, it needs to be replaced.
When you purchase tires, be certain you purchase the right type - polyurethane, solid or pneumatic.
When you have to replace the tires, the forklift jack must be positioned under the tire. You could easily change the tires if you raise the forklift high enough.
To remove the damaged tire, pull the tire from the rim using the tire press. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you have just one jack, lower the forklift, then reposition the jack at the next tire.
A repair company could provide on-site tire repair. If the tire is extremely big for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the tire which is damaged should be transported to a shop that has a stationary tire press.
