Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries during 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed customers and therefore, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, since the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, when the requirements for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into making articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values because of the economic downturn in the start of the 2000s, when they partnered with Terex. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the first years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machinery are emission-free, quiet machines capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machinery must be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machine with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These equipment are ideal for limited access areas or small areas in all kinds of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These equipment deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the job area and work site.
