Narrow Aisle Forklift
Used to both lift and lower loaded pallets from storage areas which are high is a narrow aisle forklift. This kind is suitable for work environments with narrow spaces between aisles, like for example warehouses or retail environments. The forklift has small, solid rubber tires which make maneuvering really easy.
Normally, the operator of this specific type of forklift stands up in a small cockpit. The stand-up design enables the narrow aisle forklift to be as short and narrow as possible. A stand-up cockpit forklift normally has three tires: one in the back, and two in the front. This configuration enables for fast and easy maneuvering. There are some versions of these forklifts which are available with a sit-down cockpit. The lift attachment is capable of pivoting to the sides, allowing the lift to be operated without the operator having to reposition the whole equipment. The sit-down version normally has four wheels.
An electric engine is utilized to power many narrow aisle forklifts. Electric-powered equipment are quiet and do not produce exhaust fumes, making them the preferred alternative for closed areas like retail spaces. Several lifts come with a diesel engine or a gas engine. Nevertheless, the diesel model is not recommended for indoor application as it can be noisy and produce exhaust.
